Quote of the Week – 24/03/09
Last week President Obama sent a message to Iranian leaders. He explained that he would like to change the relationship between the United States and Iran. He asked for going over the old dissensions. To remember, Diplomatic relationship between the US and Iran were cut after the country’s Islamic Revolution in 1979 and the taking of hostages at the American Embassy in Teheran that year. However, both loosely cooperated in late 2001 and 2002 in the Afghanistan conflict, but the contacts were extinguished completely when President Bush said Iran was part of an “axis of evil”. Yet, Ayatollah Khamenei is not ready for that. He answered to Barak Obama: “should you change, our behavior will change, too.” So as much as the US won’t change, Iran won’t change… He also added: “They chant the slogan of change but no change is seen in practice”. The way for reconciliation seems really far from now.
